New Site~ Karma Tank

Just found something I can look at that will make me happy any time I need. This really marvelous couple, who makes wool bears, and writes delightful pieces. Who lives not in America, and has a magnanimous sense of humor.

I think I am in love with these little bears.

How wonder and sweet they are.

Rules to Blog

Okay so I understand there are rules that go with blogging. And I get that a good blogger follow these rules. But…it’s my life and I will do as I want.
So yes, I have posted things today with a different date. These things were writing at these times, I just did not post them then. I know it’s still wrong. So please forgive me.

Does any one know where I can find these rules written?

A Party

I am having a party tonight. I don’t know how I got myself into this idea. I can’t stop stressing out and get all anxious. Why do I think I can throw a party? AHHHH.

Today is just Another day. But an Auspicious one at that.

Today is Tuesday. Today is a pretty day so far. Today will be a busy day. I have a doctors appointment at 1030a. I have not gotten any sleep yet, maybe later. I am going to a play later this afternoon. And my car needs new tires, today. Maybe they can fix the brake Alex could not get after an hour of trying. He got the others, but this one just won’t budge. Who ever did the brakes last sucks, although VW’s do not make things easy.

Now I really don’t want to say it but it is an even year (and even numbers are my favorite) today also happens to be the day I celebrate my first day with my Mother. It was a whole 26 years ago she and I became an item.

Moving on, the moon will be full tonight, a very Auspicious sign if I do say so myself. I don’t know the next time the moon will be full on my birthday.

Did anyone else do anything fun today?

Happy Times!

Snow Bite

Recall: 2008

One year ago today my area got a foot of snow or more, and as usual the city was not ready. The roads were so bad, not even the main interstate was cleared. Granted it was a freak storm, but it was not the first bad snow of the season. Ended up

Now I work at UPS at night. I could have called and said no way to me driving there in my Jetta, but that would have been to easy for my life. I did not at the time know I could call in a vacation day and take the night off (not that I could have gotten it any ways as over half our wing called in), and I was all up in free call-ins. If I had called in I would have gotten in big trouble. Don’t get me wrong I am not a bad employee, it’s just easy to add up call-ins. I guess I could have called in any ways and then fought it with my union.

The thing is I decided to risk it and go into work that night. So I left extra early because I knew I would be driving real slow. I swear I was only going 20mph or less when I spun out the first time. That was scary, and no cars where around. The second time I spun 270° ended up facing the medium with a bunch of cars coming and a semi heading right at my door. To top it all off it was a Fed Ex truck, I some how saw that while my life did not flash before me. I actually thought I was going to wet myself and if the semi didn’t kill me I was going to electrocute myself though peeing on the heated seats, if that is even possible.?.

Okay back the story. So I am sitting there watching this semi head right at my door, I know I could not get my car to get out of the way fast enough, and if I moved I would head right into a lot of other cars. I really thought I was going to die. Then this driver gets his truck to move in a way I don’t even think is possible on a road without a foot of snow. And then the next second he is missing me, and then passing me. HOLY UNDERWEAR…I am not going to get hit. Then right as the last of him is passing the last of me, I hear a crunch and a slight jolt. All I took away from that was a busted tail light and bumper. I was told it would be a good idea to call Fed Ex and make them claim the damage, but I did not really think the diver was in the wrong. It was me who lost control, and the dude saved my life with his awesome driving.

So, a little over $500 damage is enough for my life

I have been on the hunt for a vanity table. I know what I want and don’t want, yet I just can’t seem to find the perfect table. I have come close, but it was way over my price range. I then thought about making one as I love going to flea markets and yard sales. That idea really took off in my head and now I am completely motivated to create my own. Yard sale season in coming up.

I don’t know where I got this want for a vanity table. I keep surprising myself when I find a fondness for ‘girly’ things. Then I look up girlyness and I found a funny page. Glad I grew up a tom-boy. So I wonder why I am now attracted to being more female.

TV Show: Joan of Arcadia

I have been watching Joan of Arcadia, and so far I have watched two disks of season one, and I must say I really enjoy it for all it’s god related. I really like watching Amber Tamblyn, she is a great actress and very beautiful. Also she is only two months younger than me.

As much as I severely dislike any thing christen related, I do like good stories and this show has a rather good story line. It delivers its message well without being preachy, it is a bit, ‘follow as I say or else bad things will happen’. I guess that is the general aim any ways.

I will probably keep watching it.

I lost my dog yesterday. She’s gone and I can’t believe it. I don’t know what to think. I mean I have been sitting here for an hour and all I have to show for it is these last few lines. I just don’t know what to say. I have never lost a dog that was My baby before.

Domino was 4 years old, we got her from some weird guy who had put an ad in a small news paper. She was free, but she was so worth it. We was only 10 weeks old when we got her. She was my first puppy, she was My first dog, my very own.

We are not sure how she got out of the back yard. But she did, and a neighbor who was walking his own dog saw what happened. He said she was hit by a car and he was not able to reach her right away because no one stopped or slowed down. She died in his arms.

I just can’t believe she is gone.

My sister and a chair saw. Now that’s a funny sight. I have a clip of her and if she knew I posted it she would be oh so mad. So I am putting it up. Oh and just to say this, I love my sister I don’t post this stuff to embarrass her, I think she is great and she should not feel embarrassed about any thing she does. I love how she can be her self and make people laugh, it’s a great thing. She has me laughing all the time, I love spending time with her because she is so astonishing.

Jessica with a chain saw. Watch Out!!!

She is extraordinary. I feel so lucky to be her sister, to get to be around her and know her. She has so much life. I can think of hundreds of words that could describe her and I would still not fully name who she is. I guess the best word is her favorite, magnanimous.

There is this movie coming out this year, and I am just not sure what to think about it. I wonder who is making it and what angle they will take. I would like to see it as it has two really great actors. Jennifer Connelly playing Emma Darwin, the deeply religious wife of Charles Darwin (Paul Bettany).

I wonder if they will make specific points, if they will add facts, or just the story of what everyone already thinks they know about Charles Darwin.

I would like to direct you to a fact about Charles Darwin, a fact I hope they make sure to add to the movie. This is my cousin’s site and he explains it best.

I have wondered about the rumor that he took back what he said about the Theory of Evolution on his death bed. I hear a lot of christians spouting this as fact any time I even say the word Evolution. Like just because someone told them Charles Darwin said it was a lie, makes it a lie. NO one can know what we will do or when we Must face the time of our death. We don’t know that there wasn’t a person there begging him to renounce his ‘sins’ and be saved before he died. Or if he did it for the love of his wife. We can’t assume

Valentine’s Day

There are a lot of single people out there hating this day because they are alone. But what about the people who are not single and are alone? Or the ones who have to serve the couples who are together and spending the night out?

A group of people who are left alone and/or single, should get together and go out. They should give little cards and candy gifts to the people who have to work on this night. No matter their relationship status.

I myself do not have to work on Saturday nights so I have this night off. Yet even if Alex did not have to work on Saturdays he would still have to go in, as he does for any holiday or big event. And he won’t get back till way after midnight. At lease we saw each other in passing this morning. I was coming in around the same time he was going out, so we spent a bit of time together enjoying our very thoughtful gifts to one other, then he left.

He did leave me with chocolate covered strawberries and strawberry ice cream.

Friday the Thirteenth

Today is Friday the Thirteenth. I was looking in Wikipedia about Friday the Thirteenth, and it is all very interesting. This year the 13th will fall on Friday in three months. February, March, and November, this will happen again in the years of 2015 and 2026. If you look you can see a pattern and I love patterns.

A lot of people think of Friday the Thirteenth as an unlucky or bad day, I like to think of it as a good day to do a lot of cleaning. And any ways, if you want to think of that day as a day where bad things will happen, then you are just setting your self up for a self fulfilling prophecy.

I love that phrase, self fulfilling prophecy. How many people do this to them selves? It’s like placebos, they are real if you believe it.

The Butterfly

There is this song (see below) that drives me wild ever time I hear it. I get the strangest urges and feelings. Don’t get me wrong and start thinking dirty, this has nothing to do with those kind of thoughts. The song is called The Butterfly. It’s by Mairead Nesbitt, and she is with a group called Celtic Woman. I saw them in person here, and loved her music right away. She dances around the stage barefoot while playing the violin.

Listening to any violin music makes me want to take it up again, but this song goes right through me in a way I can’t explain. I quit when I changed schools in the middle grade. I really want to play when I have children, so I can play for them. That is a dream I have.

Tax Time

We chose this year to have our taxes done by a person rather than do them our selves with a program. We thought about it last year when we could have added our house on, but we just didn’t find a person. I won’t go to one of those super-processed places that are like check out lines in a grocery store, no personality.

Since last year we made another big change and we thought we would go ahead and have a person go over them. I am still not sure if I am completely satisfied, but I am much more relived than if we had done it alone. And the lady who did it helped explain how to fix my state problem. I am working in KY but live in IN, and they (UPS) are not doing my state taxes right. That means I must go to the human resources place in the city of UPS, it’s only a bus and short walk from my work area. At least the people there are nice.

Now we make the list of what to do with the return. I think a complete garden this year. That would be something nice. I really really want to make a moss garden. I have a shady patch on the north side of the house that would be perfect. I have always wanted a nice garden. So look for my blooming garden soon. Oh and any ideas, tips, or advise any one would like to give would be lovely.

For the last 4 weeks Alex and I have been attending clown class. Both my mother and sister are clown. They took the class 4 years ago and have done clowning events ever since. They walk in the Derby Parade, volunteer at the Dream Factory summer event here in Louisville, and other charitable events. It’s a real kid involved cause.

This week we put on our first face. We did a white face in only red and black today. I of course forgot my camera, but other people had theirs. That just means I will have to wait till some one sends photos to the group. But I will add photos as soon as I get them. ~oop I do have one of my I took with my cell. Now, just remember this is my first go. I will be different when I make my complete face. I really made my mouth and eye brows too big. I can’t wait to try again.

Next week we will be doing the Auguste face clown. There are three main types of clowns. I am pretty sure I want to be a white face clown. I have a costume design in my head. I will need to make it, which means I will have to learn to work my sewing machine.

It was great fun watching every one transform into a clown. Then we all dressed in the play clothes the teachers brought, and after a while of running around laughing at our selves, we had just a tiny bit of trouble trying to figure out who every one else was.
We spend a few minutes picking out the shapes we would paint on. Then it took about an hour to apply the full face. After we had fun laughing and being silly, we removed the face (which took no short time). All that took a little over two hours.

I think this is a great way to spend my Sunday nights.

For Yule I gave my family and friends scarves. I love to knit, so I knit almost a dozen scarves. And as much as I like to be modest about the things I do, I make really nice scarves. I only use quality yarn, I love picking out what yarn for what person. It’s like thinking of the person I am knitting for and choosing their colours and style. There are so many different types of yarn, so many materials. I could go on and on about it, and maybe one day I will. But that is not what I wanted to talk about today. I guess this post is a “thunder post” for me.

As I said before, I love to knit, it is calming, relaxing, and a lot like meditation. I also like to knit when I am watching a movie, as I like to do something with my hands. I think I get that from my Grandma and Mother, they both have to do something with their hands while watching tv.

Any ways, to get on with the story, someone said something to me the other day that was rather annoying and made me very upset. This girl had seen one of the scarves I had made for a friend, and asked if I sold them. Now I guess I should have been flattered, but people ask me all the time if I would make them a scarf.

I want to explain about my scarves. If I were to sit down and knit a scarf with out stopping, it would take me between 10-18 hours. Obviously I can’t just spend all my time knitting. So in reality, it takes me closer to a week or a fortnight, depending on life. And I like to pour my happy chi into it, so people feel good when wearing my scarves. Now, that is just the knitting, I also pick out the yarn and the ‘extra touches’ I add on. I put my signature in it. I love these silly things.

Okay so the story, this girl asks if I would sell her one. It’s not really a big deal, really, and she has no idea what I put into them. She just likes what she has seen. I don’t blame her really. And I have never had trouble when people ask me this type of question. It’s just this time I answered differently. I usually tell the person to go get some yarn (and tell them how much fun it is to pick it out), and some needles, and I would be more than happy to teach them to knit. I know that might not be a very nice answer to some people, but most just laugh and say “yea, okay”. If the person shows up and is willing to learn, I will teach them the basics to knitting and they usually enjoy it.

So what happened this time is I thought about selling scarves. Now don’t get me wrong I have thought about it before. I just have not really thought about acting on that thought. Yea, that doesn’t make any sense, but I will explain. When she asked me, I jokingly ask her how much one of my scarves would be worth.

Yes, I said it in those words.

She then says she wouldn’t know and how much would I sell them for. Here I had a thought to myself. This is a typical american, who like the rest of america shops at wally world. Most people have no sense of, how can I say it? Assessment of quality, value, worth, or just real beauty of a thing. Only wealthy people who go to art fairs can buy such things. Things that the rest of america can get for an hour of minimum wage at super stores, who in turn get it from countries that don’t have rules and freedom like us.

~Yes, look for post in the future about that funny pun, freedom and rules my ass~

I tell the girl how long it takes me to knit a scarf and ask her how much she would pay an hour. Now, I know that was a rather rude thing to say, but this girl has never been really all that nice to me- not that that is an excuse to be mean to someone. She asks me if I would make one for 25 dollars. I didn’t know what to say, I could see all the thoughts going on in my head. No one would pay even the minimum wage of last year for each hour. That would be way too much money for just a scarf. They are happy paying cents to all those poor kids in china who need it. So few people know that not one item of clothing in wally world is made in the states.

To finish my story, I told the girl the same thing I tell every one else. Go pick some yarn out, bring it in, and I will teach her how to make one herself.

I feel sorry for all the lost beauty in the world. At least I can add my own.

Ice and Trees.

Today I am going to buy a chainsaw. I only need a small one, something simple and easy to use. In the past week, we had a really bad ice storm. A lot of branches came down, much more than last year. I guess we could hire some one (a neighbor offered at a fee) to cut up all the wood, but I like to do things my self and we will need one in the future being as we have a lot of trees. I really need to find either a logger, or a company that won’t charge us an outrageous price to take down a few trees. If I could just remove 4-5 of the 11 on our property, that would be great. If I were to use a tree removal company it would cost me between $800-5000. I also want to have some of the other trees trimmed. Especially the trees that hang over the neighbor’s property.

So in the meantime I am going to buy a chainsaw to remove the big ass branch that took out my neighbor’s trampoline. Then I will price trampolines.
Oh, and I will need to repair several links in the fence.

Back I am ~~{~@

I think that Imbolc is my favorite holiday of all eight solstices and equinoxes. It’s like seeing the sun break though the clouds, or smelling the fresh air, or seeing the end of winter. Imbolc is like having hope, after so long a time spent in sadness. I love that it is a sign to believe in the fade and flow of the seasons. I thought today would be a prefect time to return to my blog. Like the returning of light and spring, I will share my thoughts and feelings.

I was listening to this song I found, Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal and it felt so right for this time of year, and point in my life. It has an excellent music video with it. Although the lyrics are somewhat mystifying and rather sinister, the sound is fantastic.

It has been a very long time since I have written. I have not have enough order in my life to desire to reach out to the world. There is so much that has happened around and to me. It has been over 2 years, and I am ashamed I have neglected this for so long. I really enjoy writing, and although it is still a little strange to me to be writing where people can see it I do not mind so much. I still have my journal I keep. So I plan of adding some of the past 24 months to the next posts. I would love to hear feed back. Of course I have to have people reading this to have feed back. Maybe I will get brave and tell some friends of this. Oh yes, I now have friends. I have changed quite a bit.
